Train the Trainer Webinars
Our Train the Trainer virtual events provide training and education for organizations, educators, and mentors who serve the Native business community, including Native entrepreneurs and small business owners. Our goal with our Train the Trainer events is to be a resource partner to any organization or individual who works with tribal communities on small business development. We can help you become a more effective resource to the tribal communities you serve.
Our Train the Trainer live webinar series was offered in July – August 2020, and it is now concluded. Still interested?
This 1-hour webinar trains trainers to teach the Empowerment Workshop curriculum, a business training program about entrepreneurship and small business management for Native entrepreneurs or business owners.
Our Train the Trainer webinars are designed for any organization or individual who works with tribal communities on small business development. The Empowerment Workshop curriculum provides culturally relevant business resources for Native business people.
In this 1-hour webinar, participants will:
- Understand how the Empowerment Workshop curriculum is crafted for cultural relevance and is made for the learning styles of Native adult learners
- Learn to use the lesson plans, exercises, and materials of the Empowerment Workshop curriculum to deliver a 2-day workshop, or to design shorter sessions
- Identify your SBA resources, including local SBA offices and programs that serve your region, so you can connect participants with ongoing business support
Watch the Recordings
If you didn’t join one of the live webinars, take the opportunity to watch one of the recordings!
Each webinar covers much of the same information, but a short section in each is customized to your state and region. Pick the webinar for your region, and you can learn a little more about finding SBA resources near you
Use this SBA map to check what region you are in.
Access Curriculum Materials
Participants at the live Train the Trainer webinars received full access to the entire Empowerment Workshop curriculum, with all the lesson plans, worksheets, exercises, and other materials needed to present all eight modules of the Empowerment Workshops.
If you’re watching the recordings and are interested in accessing the Train the Trainer Resource Library, containing all of the Empowerment Workshop resources, please contact us.
Who Should Attend Train the Trainer?

Meet Our Instructors
An important strength of the Empowerment Workshops curriculum is the experienced Native American business instructors who designed and created it. These same instructors are the teachers for our Train the Trainers webinars too! Learn from the experts on Indigenous entrepreneurship about how to better serve Native business people.
Tina Begay is the lead in developing the new Empowerment Workshop curriculum, a curriculum that has been designed for cultural appropriateness for Native contexts.
Tracy Kieffer is the Tribal Lead on the #nativeSBA team. She reaches out to build and grow relationships with tribal governments, organizations, and communities.
If you need help or information to take the next step in presenting the Empowerment Workshops in your community, please reach out to us.
When you fill out our contact form, a real person from our office (likely one of the instructors you met at the webinar!) will get in touch with you quickly to offer help, advice, a demo of the cash flow exercise, an introduction to someone in your SBA region—whatever you need!
