Deputy Project Manager and Assistant Trainer
On the #nativeSBA team, Tayla Desjarlais helps plan and market the Empowerment Workshops. As a member of the training team, she is often on the road assisting with the workshops. Tayla has been charged with developing the regional resource network for the benefit of entrepreneurs who attend the trainings, so that when they return home, we can put them in touch with local resources and partners.
Tayla has her bachelor of science in business management and entrepreneurship from the University of Montana. Her career thus far has focused on promoting and developing Native businesses and business leaders. She is inspired by hearing the stories of Native entrepreneurs, helping them grow and solve problems, and seeing where they take their ideas and passions.
Before joining the #nativeSBA team, Tayla worked first for American Indigenous Business Leaders, where she supported operations and programming for young business leaders across the country, and then for Montana Indian Business Alliance, where she organized membership activities and resources for Native-owned small businesses and produced communications, outreach, and social media messages for the business alliance and its members.
Tayla is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and affiliated with the Assiniboine Tribe. She enjoys beading, powwow dancing, and spending time with her daughter and son.
